Since the whole of August was more cool and rainy, still had her a holiday in the south . As for traveling with a baby was on the internet to actually read anything negative.

It should go Kos . An island on which I have not been true (as I like to put on it value) and Jessica ages ago as a small child. No problem. The hotel choice was the Kipriotis Iberostar Panorama & Suites .

Wednesday, which started 8/25/2010
Since the flight very early (5 clock) had, accordingly, we get up early. This should really still be 2 hours before departure at the airport, combined with a short hour's drive, this means getting up to 1 clock. Not funny and, of course, the schedule also shifted somewhat to the rear. In addition I also forgot initially my hand luggage (including camera). Jessica has fortunately just after the exit asked for it, so we were able to quickly return.
On the (empty) highway was then a little more throttle, so we relaxed time at the airport arrived.
The whole check-in was less problematic than expected. Neither there were problems with the water (cold and hot, much more than usually allowed 100ml), nor the Boarding: We checked in last and took the buggy, including Maxi Cosi plugged directly to the aircraft. There was also an employee of the loading personnel directly at the start, the two loaded the baby stuff directly into the cargo hold.
The plane was up to the last place full, so we had an older lady in our "baby row" at the window.

The ride to our hotel, unfortunately, led by all sorts of places, including hotels. No idea how often have we stopped, at least it was constantly on winding roads. Among these were also apparently quite a few places on the north coast retort were.
So I was glad then when we arrived after about an hour, finally reached our hotel! too, was (like so few before, too) quite a big complex. In general, the hotel landscape in Kos but looks much different than I had ever seen on most other Greek islands before. There are mostly small hotels, or at least very limited in the amount so that they were not so concise in the area. There were quite a few huge and as you'd expect them rather in Spain.

At check was delayed then obtaining the room too. It was still not free! So we could (as only one of the new guests) almost 2 hours waiting in the lobby. Well, at least we were able to use the local wireless and look around a bit so ever.
Finally it was ordered and the cot was in the room (after I had previously demanded times). The room was nice and big and everything was fine. Since the whole day was very exhausting but, until we lay down again and relaxed the rest of the day.
evening we went to the buffet, Levi was here quickly focus: Various waitresses almost tore him. Since he has no fears, he could also of course all once on the arm.
After enjoying the food we crumbled us immediately to bed, but was a busy day.
Thursday, 08/26/2010 went
rested there the next morning, first time for breakfast. Then we wanted to show Levi but once the pool and also like his swim ring To test in a similar way he already knew the baby swimming.
So he got his swim diaper and bathing his sweatshirt on and off the water. liked the first not him! The pool was just so cold and chilly water, he found it rather stupid. So was crying first, until he was somewhat accustomed to the temperatures. After that it was probably OK, he was more or less indifferent to slightly insulted in his rubber ring. OK, so great it was then not well. So together we packed our bags and headed to the bus stop outside the hotel to drive to Kos Town . There, we strolled up to the late afternoon through the town, made with great Trees outside a tavern behind the market a long break and eat something. Conclusion of the first survey: Quite nice - some small streets and Bar Street (which is our baby with us because interesserten less), but not nearly the charm of the older style really preserved towns such as Rhodes Town . A few buildings in the center are given next to the fortress still, to some excavations that usually consist of a few fragments, that was it.

A baby seat we got, but the model was not exactly in mint condition. So we were glad to have taken our own Maxi Cosi .
After we were back at the hotel and we now have a car had, I wanted to do it again in the City for a WIND store. This is a mobile operator in which there is a prepaid card to which you can book a Internet rate it.
One of the advantages of Greece: Most speak a very useful and very good English. :-) even if it all goes very well, I just had at the hotel to improvise something that I did not know it by heart. As shown for the SIM card must have a local address. Then I was also booked the same 7-day Internet access to it, I paid 20 € for everything.

That day was a trip to the mountains. There are several villages, some of which to be very pretty and have an attractive location to enjoy a great view of the northern coastline.
We went through so Kos-city and Platani on Asklepieion (which we wanted to see the dates yet) by up to Zia, an old artists' village. This was actually a main and some secondary roads that were crammed with countless stalls. Given a very central area with some parking areas (where we managed to get hold of lucky timing also a lot). Really nice, the restaurants and tavernas, all with Roof terraces were equipped.
In one of these restorations on the outskirts, we settled down and took a break. We had a magnificent view over the Nördküste to the Turkey. That was really very nice ... Then we continue our tour further away to the west and he day was not so advanced, we made a detour to the south coast after Kardamena . This place is mainly visited by Britons, as there seems to be the restoration, one can well imagine.
Well, we drove only on the outskirts of the city over, so really looked inviting, the place for us on this day not. Back we went around the airport (which is scheduled to have a sort of plateau), the so-called "Island Highway" after Kos town and the hotel.
Also that day we could end then relaxed. I went down to the beach house and let me hang around a bit on the shallow waves. I'm always in the sea rather than in the pool have been that has not changed this time. Then came the usual: dinner and round off the evening.

The next day was, this time we wanted to look at the western end of the island, even with the old capital Kefalos . So it went once more on the "Island Highway until we reached Kamari, where we first stop at a small port lodged.

Nothing was going on, a really nice city was at the drive-through not to discover too, so our route took us right next to a mill, which manages a German couple and where there will be delicious cake. was originally planned to prepare an old and crumbling mill again. The masonry was probably in such bad condition that it be torn down and erected on the same site a new mill was.

After the break we wanted to look further south, also on the western shore. There are quite a lonely and small beaches, which are also to be a secret because of the sunset.
Well, we had to dispense with Levi, sunset is the same bedtime. But something on the coast, we're gone long. Really very beautiful in this part of Kos . Mountainous, wherever trees / shrubs, and only small dusty roads or in part slopes down to small coves. We made a few stops, and eventually went on to the old monastery of Agios Ioannis Thymianos . This is both scenic and is also a kind of pilgrimage. The parking lot was slightly above this monastery, and Jessica did not want the many steps down (and later back up) to run.
In any case, we were somehow to the days of action around town, the parking lot was a kind of small flea market and the chapel itself was decorated lavishly and on the forecourt was a decent sound system set up. The complex was still an old bell tower and a few apartments (I'm assuming), but was not quite fall apart, and were not used more appropriate action even longer.
On the way back we came up high in the mountains, driving miss out on many beautiful, deep down celled be bays until we were again at some point on the Island Highway.
It went back to the hotel with the usual evening program.

Since the previous day was more in the character of landscape and culture, Jessica called her right to a shopping. So we drove off for days after a planned short visit to the top floor of our hotel along with great views over and along Kos town on the north coast. Here are some pure resorts, as the north coast, the largest part of fine Sandy beaches there. Where we drove for miles along a narrow and often quite directly on the coast road. The invited you to have spontaneous bathroom. Unfortunately, mostly without shade and therefore Levi not really recommended. 
We visited the places so nacheinenader Tigkaki, Marmari and Mastachari , all either pure or quasi retort places on the "best way" there. If hot, the sites consist mainly of beaches, major hotels (also specializes mostly on all-inclusive customers) and a Bar Street for the evening's entertainment. Something like a (old) village could not be detected. Also everywhere else was-present taverns / restaurants it hard to know what is in turn linked to the prevailing type of hotel together. In short: anything but inviting for the passing visitor. Thus, we were quickly through the north coast. Only in Mastachari we made a stop at the port, where there is at least as well as taverns said. But also, in recent years less and less.
So fast away from here and south coast. It should again go to Kardamena . This time is really up to the center.
There were actually several streets with many shops. In between the usual bars, as in by British Guests are preferred places to find more: sports bars, where all day running on large televisions football, before most colorful and the southern sun tattooed red-skinned viewers in different jerseys of famous clubs in the Premier League.
The snack bars between shops and bars are limited and usually on the preferred diet of: Everywhere there are baked beans / bacon and fish and chips. It is really interesting, such places are always like from a different world, we knew from various destinations such as Lanzarote or Rhodes already.
Well, so we strolled through the shops and drove back then.
Since the day was not so old, we wanted then to the sulfur-based sources of Embros Baths in the south east of the island, they are not far from our hotel. So we packed our swimming suits and a Levi's facilities including swimming ring. There, the temperature should agree at least.
First we missed the departure of the elevated main road, but because the few hundred meters above the impasse ended in a spa car park to find the exit was not difficult.

Since we had that day even the rental car had, in principle, but seen more or less everything, we went again to Kos Town .

So we were able to fine look around the shops and then we collected our child back and went on. Basically as a permanent on-site support. then went again to the city, visiting other attractions. The fortress at the port turned out to be not suitable for pushchairs, it remained at a glance at the ticket booth inside.

Now we had visited Kos town really enough, I brought Jessica and Levi returned to the hotel and then I was off our rental car. As agreed at the distribution date, the landlord brought me then back to the hotel. A very nice guy who spoke pretty good German. He has a friend in Vienna and was also a couple of times in Germany and with the necessary linguistic talent, he did well also. For the new and growing numbers of visitors from Russia and neighboring countries, he met current Russian, French and Italian, he speaks in part. Not bad ...

stood That day is finally on a tour of the greatest "archaeological treasure" of the island, Asklepieion . This was also allegedly active site of the famous ancient physician Hippocrates .
We first drove the bus to Kos town and from there with a small tourist train (that is one of those little railroad as "clad" street car with multiple trailers) to about 4km out of town. We therefore had addition a small city tour. The
Asklepieion was quite impressive dimensions, very spacious, and on several levels. Although of course it mainly consists of ruins remains. From the top level one also has a wonderful view of the Commonwealth of the Northern coast line and over to the Turkey. Back at the hotel
was "replaced" the usual evening program by a Greek evening. So there was not the buffet in the restaurant, but on the very large terrace of the pool area. There was also that night mostly Greek dishes.

So today everything clearly Greek. :-) It was very beautiful and atmospheric, with live music and dancing by a group (the folk share the evening) and especially later by the staff, which was then yet clearly true! Like the way already, should also start the trip very early. Funnily Jessica met an old acquaintance who has lived for several years in Munich . The world is just small .... The flight itself turned out at the end of the way as well: To start and landing Levi got his bottle, and in between he was as relaxed and contented as well as on the flight - he slept most of the time in his crib. The arrival in
Paderborn was to be expected as well: It was cold and wet, at least it was not raining now. Then we passed the same with my parents and also collected the Linus again. But we had to move their luggage a little more closely. It was the first short reports and then went on to home. The holiday was over.
Overall we had a really great holiday. The Hotel was good and in general there was nothing to criticize. Kos itself is OK, but after a few days but it has pretty much seen most of it. We had a rental car for 4 days, 3 would certainly have served well. In addition, the island landscape quite a clear distinction. The mountains in the south and the equally mountainous western end I found landscape really beautiful. The large, shallow body for rather less. Especially in comparison to Rhodes falls Kos was clearly visible, which is landscaped (and of course only on the size) a different number.
